It’s only inevitable that some of the characters will fall by the wayside with such a vast cast.
As one might expect from a series with over a thousand chapters, Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece has one of the most fantastic settings in all of fiction, complete with a colorful cast of people. Countless individuals have been introduced in the novel over Luffy’s trip, and each of them has played a role in moving the plot forward in some way.
Unfortunately, not all characters from One Piece may remain relevant until the very end, and while some are recurring characters, others have faded away.
Portgas D. Ace – He Died In The Paramount War
Portgas D. Ace, Luffy’s older brother, was one of the most important characters in One Piece until the time skip. He was the one who started the Great Pirate Era’s biggest war, known as the Paramount War.
Ace was extremely important as Roger’s son and would have gone on to become a renowned pirate if he hadn’t died in the war protecting his brother, Luffy. Despite the fact that Ace’s flashbacks are plentiful even after the time jump, he has no direct influence on the plot.
Diamond Jozu – He Has Not Been Seen Since The Paramount War
Diamond Jozu, the Whitebeard Pirates’ Third Division Commander, was an extraordinarily powerful character whose qualities were demonstrated to the public throughout the Marineford arc of the novel.
Jozu appeared to be a fantastic fighter who could have been beneficial in the New World, holding even the Admirals at bay. Unfortunately, his whereabouts have been unknown since the Payback War, which followed the Paramount War.
Caesar Clown – His Whereabouts Remain Unknown After Whole Cake Island
From the beginning of Punk Hazard to the end of Whole Cake Island, Caesar Clown was a recurring character. He was permitted to go his own way after supporting the coalition in taking down Big Mom on Whole Cake Island, and he hasn’t been seen since. Caesar is most likely still in the New World, but he isn’t mentioned in the story any longer because he has served his role.
Sengoku – He Is No Longer A Part Of The Active Marines
Sengoku The Buddha, the previous Fleet Admiral of the Marines, was originally a very important character in the plot, but after the Paramount War, he opted to stand down and train the rookies. Sengoku belonged to the period of Roger and Whitebeard, and with the new age approaching, he decided it was time to stand back and retire.
Garp – He Retired From His Role In The Marines Like Sengoku
Monkey D. Garp, Luffy’s grandfather, is regarded as the greatest Marine of all time, dubbed “The Hero” all across the world. Garp, like Sengoku, elected to retire after the Paramount War, but he preserved his Vice-Admiral title. Garp’s purpose now, like Sengoku’s, is to train the next generation, and despite his involvement in scenes like the Reverie, Garp isn’t a major character for the time being, and won’t be utilized again until the tale concentrates on his ties with Dragon and the Celestial Dragons.
